Take 5 Cookies

I hinted to this giveaway a few weeks ago on Facebook and Twitter but I am happy to finally announce that I have this cute little spatula to give away to one lucky reader!

The limited edition "Be a Good Cookie" spatula from OXO was created to raise awareness for Cookies for Kids' Cancer, a charity devoted to raising money for pediatric cancer research through local bake sales. Founded in 2007 by two OXO employees who sadly lost their son to cancer, Cookies for Kids' Cancer has raised 2.5 million dollars for pediatric cancer research.

The proceeds (up to $100,000) from this cute little green spatula go directly to Cookies for Kids' Cancer. You can purchase the spatula from Bed Bath and Beyond or Amazon.

Want to do more to help the kids? Host a bake sale and donate your profits to the cause! OXO matches the proceeds from all bake sales and the top five grossing bake sales are awarded $500 worth of OXO products! Visit www.cookiesforkidscancer.org to find out more about the bake sale experience!

Thanks to OXO, one lucky reader will win this little spatula! Find out how to enter at the end of this post.

And to make this giveaway even sweeter, I've included a new cookie recipe in honor of Cookies for Kids' Cancer. These Take 5 Cookies are inspired by one of my favorite candy bars, the Hershey's Take 5 bar. These soft and gooey cookies are loaded with pretzel pieces, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips and caramel, just like the candy bar! Sweet and salty and totally delicious.

Take 5 Cookies
adapted from Cook's Illustrated's Chocolate Chip Cookie

2 cups + 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 1/2 sticks (12 tablespoons) of salted butter, melted and cooled
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg + 1 egg yolk, at room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 cup caramel chips
1 cup crushed pretzel pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar until smooth. Add in the vanilla extract and the eggs and whisk until combined. Gradually add the flour mixture into the butter mixture and stir until combined. Toss in the chips and pretzels and stir until combined.

Using a medium cookie scoop, drop cookies 2 inches apart on the lined baking sheets. Bake the cookies for 12 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring them to a wire cooling rack. Store cookies in an airtight container.
